As Einstein said, “Everything is energy and that is all there is to it.” OM is a unique vibration and produces dramatic results because of the frequency of the energy. When spoken correctly it consists of four separate sounds the merge into one. When chanted, the sound vibrates at a frequency of 432 Hz, which is considered by many scientists to be the pure perfect real concert pitch. OM sparks and resonates directly with our cells bringing about a peaceful feeling.
Using the sound of OM, has the power to alter your consciousness and reset the cells of your body in minutes when you learn how to harness the true power of this four-part sound; A-U-M and Silence. Sure, we may think of spirituality when we hear the aum sound, but there can be much more to it than simply a chant we use at the beginning and end of a yoga class which allows our mind to focus and bring us into alignment with universal consciousness.
OM is a sacred and ancient syllable, also known as a seed mantra (bija) or chant. It is Hindu in origin and appears at the beginning and end of most Sanskrit prayers and texts. Allow your mind to relax into the sound, and you will feel your energy awaken and flow through your physical body. Stagnant energy in your body will stir and surface to be released. Yes, this sound can help with emotional issues. Aums have been used for thousands of years to lift us up and help us to awaken.
The A sound is pronounced ‘ah’ and represents our waking state. U pronounced ‘ooh’ is the dreaming state and the M sound is the state of deep sleep and unity. They all come together with the fourth part of the after-sound OM and the vibration dissolving into Silence which is the crown of the mantra; blissfulness and tranquility.
The neurophysiology of repeated sound can slow down the nervous system, therefore calming us down, which then lowers our blood pressure and also improves heart health. This is in addition to the good feeling it bring us. If you are anxious, depressed or would like better health and well-being, try the OM sound and feel the positive energy raising your consciousness to new peaks.
