Aren’t we all looking for that perfect burger? The one that exemplifies all we want in a burger? I want my burger a bit thick, like a hockey puck…. and juicy, not perfectly round with the thickness of a CD case. I shun those pre-made, perfectly formed frozen burgers that are typically thrown on the grill, sometimes even in the finest places.
But, now, new on the burger scene in Rosarito is Betty’s Burgers. It has received high and well deserved praise from a number of friends. When I read about Betty’s on Facebook – back in Minnesota- I started looking forward to the experience of biting into one. Betty’s Burgers is owned and operated by Stephanie and Dante Napoles. They recently moved to Rosarito from the LA area with their daughter and opened the restaurant on August 7th. Betty’s Burgers is named in honor of Stephanie’s grandmother, “..a big time foodie”.
Betty’s is easy to find. It’s across the street from the purple hotel on the free road, actually across and a bit south. Look for a blue sign with Betty’s Burgers printed in white.
As the name says, Betty’s only offers burgers. Seven mouth-watering creations! And if you want, you can always create your own from a list on the wall and include all your favorite toppings. I had the bleu burger topped with crispy bacon and raw onion. By far one of the best blue burgers I’ve had.
French fries are homemade. They are served with three choices of house-created dipping sauces: a ranch, and two other Tabasco type versions, one especially packing some heat. The experience of these sauces is very satisfying.
Let’s talk onion rings. No packaged frozen rings here. One can almost hear the onions being freshly cut, dipped into a light beer batter and immersed into the sizzling oil. These onion rings are delicious.
And then there is the traditional root beer float, a classic and always a favorite, plus the usual sodas. They also allow beer and wine to be brought in at no charge. Stephanie said they are in the process of obtaining a license to allow for beer and wine.
Betty’s is open from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (5:00 Sundays). They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
