Mule 61

Mule 61Mule 61 opened on New Year’s Eve and hasn’t looked back.  We all have dissimilar tastes in food but great is great, and this upscale eatery with very reasonable prices will be one of our go to places.  The owners are very personable with each one coming to our table along with the chef to ask for critiques, and we had nothing but praise for the food.

Preston, one of the owners, has a long history of food expertise.  His family owned a restaurant in Martinique for seventy odd years and that was the inspiration for Mule 61.

The chef is a lovely young woman brought to Rosarito by her uncle Marco, another owner, and the dentist next door.  She’s from a highly regarded restaurant in Texas.  She cooks with inspiration using Caribbean spices and presented me with coconut shrimp and rice that was orgasmic as was the bruschetta and creme brulee.

The lively bar offers generous pours of nice wine and good conversation.  The decorations and other touches are still in the works, but Mule 61 is a welcome addition to an already burgeoning food scene in our small town by the sea.

On Tuesdays, they’re doing a different spagetti dinner each week for $9.99.  Prices are very reasonable, averaging $8.95 and topping at $12.95 for a New York steak.  It’s located at the south end of the business spaces in front of Rancho Santini.  Call 661 613 2901 for information.
