A Wonderful Experience

Well, I did it! I was part of another fantastic experience here in Rosarito.  I was part of the wonderful cast of Dancer the Footloose Reindeer.  It was a pleasure to be surrounded by such dedicated, interesting people and to be able to do it while singing and dancing!  This is just another step in discovering all the experiences Rosarito has to offer.  If it hadn’t been for that open audition, I might never have discovered another group of the funny, talented people that seem to be everywhere here.

Dancer the Footloose Reindeer PlayWorking with my fabulous fellow elf, Greg Richards, was a wonderful exercise in giving and receiving.  Being in any theater production requires a great deal of trust in your fellow actors.  Greg helped me do a better job because he did such a wonderful job.  I’m so happy to have had the opportunity to work with him.  I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

As Ralph, the grouchy Elf Manager, Tom Golder was great fun.  His onstage character was a perfect combination of toughness and a soft heart.  He had so much dialogue too! It will be interesting to see what he does in the future. I am certainly glad I have gotten to know him.

I called Lynn Phelps our Zen Santa.  I found something very grounding about his presence both on and off stage.  He was the perfect choice for our Santa.  I look forward to having the opportunity to work with him again.

Jenny Stone, our Mrs. Claus, is such a powerhouse. Again, I’m struck by the truly special people in our community.  I thought she was an inspired choice for Gertrude, our “ Adored Warrior .“  She worked hard and created a wonderful, zany character.

And then we have Dancer.  David Arturo Fernandez was heroic as Dancer.  Not only did he perfectly understand the attitude necessary to play the charming trouble maker, but he was able to do it while he was in the throes of a major allergy attack.  The audience had no idea that backstage he was sneezing and having his nose re-painted because on stage he never let any of it show.  I thought he was terrific.

Our director, Steven Whales, was the perfect combination of kindness and creativity. His passion for this project showed in every rehearsal.  He was patient and thorough in his attention to detail.  This was a person I would choose to work with again.  RTG is lucky to have him as one of their directors.

Sylvia Dombrosky was a wonderful producer.  She was dedicated to providing the best possible production and is one of the most energetic people I have ever met.
